The short answer
Yes. Power and data are different checks. A cable can power a device while the programming connection is still missing or unreliable.

Rift — the #1 2K27 Cronus Zen script.
Get the hardware connection stable, then use Rift’s guided controls to build your 2K27 setup.
Compare Rift with other 2K27 scripts →Do this first
- Identify which connection is failing: computer, controller, or console.
- Use a known-working data cable for that connection.
- Repeat the same detection test before changing anything else.
Name the cable you are testing
A setup may contain several USB connections. Write “computer to PROG” or “controller to Zen” instead of just “the USB cable.” That makes your test and support message useful. A working cable in one location does not prove that a different cable elsewhere is carrying data.
Look for a repeatable change
If detection returns when one cable is replaced, repeat the check without changing the script. If it fails again when the connector moves, stop relying on that connection during programming. Do not force a plug or keep bending a damaged cable to hold it in a temporary position.
Keep hardware and Rift checks separate
Once the connection is stable, confirm the active Rift slot and menu. A timing problem after that is a different issue from a device disappearing from the computer. This separation saves you from reinstalling a script repeatedly when the file was not the cause.
Quick reference
| What to check | The useful detail |
|---|---|
| Power only | A lit device is not a complete connection test. |
| Data check | The connected device appears reliably in the software. |
| Useful note | Exact cable location and result before and after replacement. |

Common questions
Will a new cable improve every shot?
This check addresses connection reliability, not gameplay performance.
Can a new cable still be faulty?
Yes. Test the connection rather than relying only on the cable’s age.
