Why does Circle/B still reach the game in Rift’s dunk mode?

By VRMON3 min read

The short answer

That is intentional in Rift V1.1’s Circle/B Dunk Assist mode. The script adds dunk inputs while leaving the physical Circle/B button available to the game.

Do this first

  1. Confirm Circle/B is the selected Dunk Assist mode.
  2. Use R2/RT plus Circle/B while approaching.
  3. Release and test the normal button separately to understand both uses.
01

This mode is different from L1/LB

The one-button L1/LB mode takes over its activation button while active. The Circle/B mode is designed differently: its source explicitly preserves Circle/B output. Do not use an L1/LB demonstration to judge the behavior of the Circle/B option without accounting for that difference.

02

Check the complete combination

For a dunk attempt, the source checks R2/RT, Circle/B, movement, and the absence of a conflicting shot state. Pressing Circle/B alone is not the same test. Start moving first, then use a fresh combination press; release it fully before another attempt.

03

Choose the mode deliberately

If you prefer the one-button activation style, select L1/LB and learn its release. If you want the legacy-style Circle/B combination, keep its normal pass-through behavior in mind. Save the chosen mode in the intended build and write it down so a build switch does not make the controls feel random.
